To enhance their opportunities for successful academic achievement, students should conduct themselves to help their fellow students, instructors, administrators and staff in achieving their common goals.
HCU guarantee its students the following:
-
An environment conducive to learning and teaching.
-
A community based on diversity, civil conduct, and mutual respect.
-
Respect for diversity and free intellectual inquiry.
-
Respect of individual and campus property.
-
Individual safety.
-
Development of students’ critical thinking skills through free expression and exploration of a wide range of ideas. This may involve challenges to students’ and faculty’s strongly held beliefs and values. As long as such challenges are clearly directed at ideas and are not personal attacks on those who hold them, the university accepts and encourages them as part of the learning process.
Nothing in this policy shall be construed as a prohibition of peaceful assembly and demonstrations or reasonable expressions of free speech.
