The College of Business Administration, through its management department and finance department, offers a balanced combination of classroom learning and hands-on business education. The curriculum has been developed using Canadian course content and delivery methods in collaboration with Capilano University in British Columbia. After successful completion of the sophomore year, students may choose major subjects in five areas: Accounting/ Finance, Business Computing, Management, Marketing, and Hospitality Management.
Majors Offerd by the College
Accounting/Finance
Students majoring in Accounting/Finance are prepared to be Certified Public Accountants. They will be offered courses in cost accounting, financial accounting, accounting microcomputer application, and taxation. On top of these courses, the students will be enrolled in humanities, social sciences, and leadership classes. These courses will help them to be critical members of organization’s management teams through using their vast knowledge of business, and their communication skills which will add value to their decision making.
Business Computing
Information Technology is the backbone of every firm, company or organization. The Business Computing program is designed towards providing business knowledge and computer know how to compete in an ever changing world of technology. The Business Computing program covers web design, programming, databases, networking, financial applications, as well as business core courses. Business Computing students will be able to pursue graduate studies in both business or computer science fields, or hold jobs as database administrator, database developer, web developer, IT auditor, etc.
Management
The Management curriculum is designed to prepare students for managerial positions and to enhance their progress to top level executive responsibilities. Management graduates will secure positions in executive management, human resources management, and services management. Students possessing interpersonal and communication skills are candidates for this field.
Marketing
The Marketing curriculum covers retail event management, retail buying, advertising, and professional selling skills. This program gets its strength from real world experience supplemented by an appropriate curriculum to support these areas of interest. Marketing graduates will secure positions as marketing managers, promotion consultants, advertising managers, and sales managers. Students should have an outgoing attitude, creativity, and good entrepreneurial and communication skills.
Hospitality Management
The Hospitality Management program offers courses in Management, Marketing, and Customer Services; it is geared towards preparing HCU graduates to hold key positions in hotels and tourism industry. Students are also required to take courses in humanities, social sciences, and leadership.
