A student is placed on HCU Distinguished Honor List if s/he attains a general semester course average of 90% or above while satisfying all other conditions of placement on HCU Honor List.

  2. HCU Honor List

To be placed on HCU Honor List at the end of an academic semester, a student must meet the following conditions:
    • Be enrolled as a regular full time student.
    • Have ranked among the top 10% of the class with an average of at least 82%.
    • Have no failing or incomplete grades for the said semester.

  • Inability to achieve a cumulative average (GPA) of 68% at the end of the second semester.
  • Inability to achieve a cumulative average (GPA) of 69% at the end of the third and fourth semesters.
  • Inability to achieve a cumulative average (GPA) of 70% in any subsequent semester excluding summer.
  • Full-Time students carrying a load of less than 12 credits at the end of a regular semester (fall-spring).

Evaluation for full-time students is based on the completion of at least 24 credits at the end of the second regular semester, and at least 12 credits in any subsequent semester.

Probation is removed in the following cases;

  • Achieving a GPA of at least 69% at the end of the third and fourth semesters.

Probation should be cleared within two consecutive regular semesters after the placement date.

The full time load for a student on probation should not be less than 12 or more than 15 credits in a regular semester. Students who fail to remove the probation within one semester are not allowed to register for more than 12 credits. During the summer sessions the student on probation is allowed to register for a maximum of 9 credits (combined total). Students continuing on probation can register for a maximum of 6 credits in the two summer sessions.

Suspension from College

A student is suspended from College if s/he fails to clear the probation during the following two regular semesters after placement on probation.

For a suspended student, the following apply:

  • S/he is categorized as non-major student and may register for courses (Regular semester: a maximum of 12 credits; Summer: a total of 6 credits per two sessions) outside the relevant college during the period of suspension; s/he must attain the GPA pertaining to her/his class to be readmitted to College as a regular student.
  • In case the required GPA is not attained as noted above, then the student will be conditionally readmitted to College, and s/he must register for a load of 12 credits during the first regular semester and attain the minimum GPA pertaining to her/his class in order to be readmitted to College as a regular student.

Dismissal from College

A student coming back from suspension is subject to dismissal from College and may not be granted permission for readmission under the following conditions:

  1. Failing to attain the minimum GPA pertaining to her/his class in the regular semester following the suspension from College (Suspension from College-section b).
  2. When subjected to a second suspension.

Dismissal from University

  • A student is dismissed from university when s/he receives suspension from two different colleges and is not granted the permission for readmission.
  • A student is dismissed from University for one regular semester if s/he was dismissed from College of Business Administration. The student can apply for readmission to CBA under academic probation for one semester following her/his dismissal, and must attain the GPA relevant to his/her class upon completion of the semester. Failure to attain the required GPA within one semester leads to dismissal from University and denial of permission for readmission.
  • Students suspended from CBA (Suspension from College-section b) with GPA less than 65 are automatically dismissed from HCU.

“No Major” Status

A student is classified to have a “No Major” status if s/he has been suspended or if s/he has failed to satisfy her/his College requirements for the major.
